I generally appreciate the album by album move away from hardcore towards extreme metal. Yet for me personally, this is where the balance is perfect. Kind of like Metallica's Ride the Lightning: subsequent albums were more sophisticated and complex, yet less intense, too. Great to come back to, again and again.

Absolutely phenomenal conceptual album. The amalgamation of ambient post-rock movements, melancholic hardcore vocals, and narrative-driven monologues creates a cinematic apocalyptical atmosphere that's rarely properly actualized in music.
